We Are We All We Are

You are only allowed to have natural colored hair, piercings only on the lobes of your ears, and no ink to get my respect. If you look different than me, I will judge you. If you don’t look bland, average, and boring than I don’t want anything to do with you.

No, I’m not going to say these things forwardly, I may not even admit to myself how I feel. however, my actions will speak for themselves.
When I walk into the restaurant and my server has bright red hair and gauges in her ears, I won’t say anything. I will mask my disgust with a kind smile & with ease say “God bless you,” when I leave. However through my entire dinner I will be looking for her to mess up my order, let my cup get dry, or charge me too much because she just looks like she’s going to make mistakes. I assume she’s on drugs, that’s the only way she could handle the pain of getting those holes stretched in her ears. Next time I think about visiting this restaurant I will remember her as my server and rethink my decision to eat here. She doesn’t look professional.
Yes, she’s wearing a clean-ironed work uniform. Yes, she’s also wearing her Ariel-the-little-mermaid hair back to prevent it from falling in my food. Yes, she’s got on a big smile with kind eyes that seem honestly interested in serving my family and I our dinner. Yes… she is very kind and respectful… Yes, she got our orders right. Yes, she brought my son extra crayons when she over heard him complain he didn’t get a blue one. Yes, she overall did give us good service & I don’t have anything to complain about.
When I get in the car my daughter asks me if she can have her hair like that one day. I tell her no, it looks trashy and fake. She’s beautiful the way she is. People that do that just ruin their hair. She’s too pretty for that color anyway. I teach her that we are better and more beautiful than the waitress because we stick to our natural image. I teach her we will be more successful in life by keeping our skin clean from tattoos and healed from piercings. I teach her that we should surround ourselves with people that look like us, because they respect their bodies and that makes them good people.
I don’t believe people that express themselves with hair color or tattoos can be good people. Their tattoos probably don’t have any meaning behind them. If they do, why do they express themselves that way? They must of had a bad childhood. They must be lonely or not be confident with how God made them to be. They must be bad people.
I won’t ever find out, though. I’ll never give someone like that a chance to get close to me. I’ll push people that aren’t like me away and teach my children to do the same. The Bible says not to tattoo your body, so I’m gonna judge anyone that does.
——————-
There are people who believe any image besides the one they portray is wrong. As humans, we do not have the authority to judge or condemn each other at all. Especially not over such a petty thing as physical appearance. You don’t know that stranger’s story. You don’t know why that hairstyle or those tattoos make them feel more beautiful. Most of the time, the most open minded, kind-hearted people are the ones that show their personality through their appearance. The ones that don’t blend in are the ones who are strong enough to take a stand and show who they are, what they believe in and stand for. I’d rather be friends with someone who shows me who they are up front than someone who hides behind their fake smile and cross necklace.
